What are Posts?

Posts (also called "thoughts") are quick updates, moments, and snippets you share with your community. They're perfect for sharing what you're thinking, what you're doing, or what you've discovered - think of them as your social feed content.

Key Features

  • Quick Sharing: Fast and easy to create, perfect for spontaneous thoughts
  • Rich Media: Add photos, videos, audio clips, or just text
  • Hashtags: Use hashtags to categorize and help others discover your posts
  • User Mentions: Mention friends with @mentions in your post content
  • "With" Tagging: Indicate who you're with in a post (different from mentions)
  • Multiple Layouts: Choose from Classic, Banner, Slider, or Quote layouts

How Posts Differ from Blogs

Posts and blogs serve different purposes:

Posts

  • • Quick updates
  • • Social feed content
  • • Shorter format
  • • Multiple media types
  • • Real-time sharing

Blogs

  • • Long-form content
  • • In-depth articles
  • • Rich text editor
  • • Subscription features
  • • Version control

What You Can Share

When creating a post, you can choose from different content types:

Photo
Video
People
Blog
Audio
Quote
  • Text: Share your thoughts, updates, or questions
  • Photos: Upload up to 10 images per post
  • Videos: Share video clips up to 900MB
  • Audio: Upload audio clips or voice memos
  • Quotes: Share inspiring quotes with attribution
  • Links: URLs automatically become rich link previews

Mentions vs. "With" Tagging

Posts support two different ways to include other users:

@Mentions

Use @mentions in your post content to mention someone in the text itself.

Example: "Had a great time with @Sarah today!"

"With" Tagging

Use "with" tagging to indicate who you're with in the post, separate from the content.

This appears as "with [name]" above your post content.

Visibility Options

Control who can see your posts:

  • Visible to All: Public posts that anyone can see
  • Visible to Friends: Only your friends can see the post
  • Visible to Paid Subscribers: Exclusive content for paying subscribers
  • Visible to Self: Private posts for your eyes only

Private Posts

Private posts are posts that only you can see. They won't appear on your public profile or in anyone else's feed, but you can still access and view them yourself.

How to Create a Private Post

  1. While creating a new post, look for the visibility selector (usually shows "Public" by default)
  2. Click on the visibility selector to see all options
  3. Select "Only Me" or "Visible to Self"
  4. Create your post as normal
  5. Click "Post" to save your private post

Accessing Your Private Posts

You can view your private posts in several ways:

  • Your Profile: Private posts appear on your own profile when you're logged in
  • Your Dashboard: Scroll through your dashboard to find private posts mixed with your other content
  • Direct URL: If you have the direct URL to a private post, you can access it (but others cannot)

Important Notes About Private Posts

  • Private posts are not published to your public blog or profile
  • Only you, as the creator, can view private posts
  • If you share the URL of a private post, others will not be able to access it
  • Private posts are perfect for personal notes, drafts, or content you want to keep to yourself
  • You can change a private post to public later by editing its visibility settings
