Deleting a Post
⚠️ Please be aware that deletions on LavishMade are final – Deleted posts cannot be restored.
You can delete your posts at any time. When you delete a post, it will be permanently removed from your profile and from feeds, but reposts of your post by others will remain.
Deleting a Single Post
To delete a post:
- Navigate to the post you want to delete
- Look for the three dots menu (⋯) in the top-right corner of the post
- Click the three dots menu to open the options
- Click "Delete" from the menu
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
- The post will be permanently deleted
Finding Posts to Delete
You can find your posts in several places:
- Your Profile: Visit your profile page to see all your posts
- Your Feed: Scroll through your feed to find posts you've created
- Direct URL: If you have the direct URL to a post, you can navigate to it directly
- Search: Use the search feature to find specific posts by content or hashtags
What Happens When You Delete a Post
When you delete a post:
- The post is permanently removed from your profile
- The post disappears from feeds and search results
- All comments on the post are also deleted
- Any favorites (saves) of the post are removed
- The post cannot be recovered or restored
Deleting Your Posts' Reposts
When you delete a post from your profile, it will not delete any reposts of that post that others have made. Reposts are independent of the original post, so:
- Reposts by other users will remain on their profiles
- Reposts will continue to appear in feeds
- Even if you delete your entire account, reposts will not be deleted
- Reposts become the property of the user who reposted them
This is by design - when someone reposts your content, they're sharing it to their own audience, and that repost belongs to them.
Before You Delete
Before deleting a post, consider:
- Permanence: Deletions cannot be undone - make sure you really want to delete the post
- Reposts: Remember that reposts will remain even after you delete the original
- Comments: All comments on the post will be lost
- Engagement: Any likes, favorites, or engagement metrics will be lost
- Edit Instead: If you just want to change something, consider editing the post instead of deleting it
Editing vs. Deleting
If you want to change something about your post, consider editing it instead of deleting:
- Edit: Change the content, add or remove images, update hashtags, or modify visibility settings
- Delete: Permanently remove the post entirely
To edit a post, click the three dots menu and select "Edit" instead of "Delete". This allows you to make changes without losing the post and its engagement.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the delete option
- Make sure you're logged into your account
- You can only delete your own posts - you cannot delete posts by other users
- Look for the three dots menu (⋯) in the top-right corner of the post
- If you don't see the menu, try refreshing the page
I accidentally deleted a post
- Unfortunately, deleted posts cannot be recovered
- Deletions are permanent and cannot be undone
- If you have a backup or screenshot of the post, you can recreate it
- Consider using the edit feature in the future instead of deleting if you're unsure
Someone reposted my post and I want to remove it
- You cannot delete reposts made by other users
- Reposts belong to the user who created them
- Deleting your original post will not remove reposts
- If a repost violates our guidelines, you can report it for review
Tip: Think carefully before deleting a post. If you just want to make changes, editing is often a better option. Deletions are permanent and cannot be undone, so make sure it's what you really want to do!
