Privacy Settings

Privacy settings allow you to control how your data is used, what information is collected, and how you interact with analytics. These settings help you maintain control over your privacy while using LavishMade.

Accessing Privacy Settings

To access your privacy settings:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Click "Privacy & Data" in the navigation
  3. You'll see options for analytics, data export, and account deletion

Analytics Tracking

LavishMade uses Fathom Analytics to understand how the site is used:

  • Privacy-focused: Fathom Analytics is privacy-focused and doesn't collect personal data
  • No cookies: Fathom doesn't use cookies or track individuals
  • Aggregate data: Only aggregate, anonymized data is collected
  • Opt-out available: You can opt out of analytics tracking at any time

To opt out of analytics:

  1. Go to Privacy & Data settings
  2. Find the "Analytics Tracking" section
  3. Click "Disable Analytics"
  4. Analytics tracking will be disabled for your account

You can re-enable analytics at any time by clicking "Enable Analytics".

Data Export

You can export all your data from LavishMade:

  • Complete data: Export includes your profile, posts, blog posts, deep dives, photos, and more
  • JSON format: Data is provided as a JSON file
  • Download anytime: You can export your data at any time
  • Before deletion: Export your data before deleting your account if you want to keep it

To export your data:

  1. Go to Privacy & Data settings
  2. Find the "Your Data" section
  3. Click "Export Data"
  4. Wait for the export to complete (you'll receive an email)
  5. Download the JSON file when ready

Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data:

  • Permanent: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
  • All data removed: All your content, profile, and data will be deleted
  • Export first: We recommend exporting your data before deletion
  • Immediate: Deletion begins immediately after confirmation

To delete your account:

  1. Go to Privacy & Data settings
  2. Scroll to the "Delete Account" section
  3. Read the warning about permanent deletion
  4. Click "Delete Account"
  5. Confirm that you want to delete your account

Content Privacy

In addition to account privacy settings, you can control content privacy:

  • Post visibility: Set posts to visible to all, friends only, subscribers only, or private
  • Blog visibility: Control who can see your blog posts
  • Profile privacy: Control who can see your profile and content
  • Friend requests: Control who can send you friend requests

These settings are managed in your profile settings and when creating content, not in Privacy & Data settings.

Data Retention

Some data may be retained for legal or operational reasons:

  • Payment records (for tax and legal compliance)
  • Account activity logs (for security purposes)
  • Data required by law to be retained

However, this retained data will not be associated with your account and cannot be used to restore your account or identify you.

Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: Export all your data at any time
  • Delete your data: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Opt out of analytics: Disable analytics tracking
  • Control content visibility: Set privacy levels for your content
  • Control communications: Manage notification preferences

Privacy Best Practices

  • Review settings regularly: Check your privacy settings periodically
  • Use appropriate visibility: Set content visibility based on who should see it
  • Export data regularly: Keep backups of your important content
  • Be mindful of what you share: Consider privacy when posting content
  • Understand analytics: Know what data is collected and opt out if desired

Troubleshooting

Common questions:

  • Can't export data: Make sure you're logged in and try again. Contact support if issues persist.
  • Analytics still tracking: Clear your browser cache after opting out
  • Data not deleted: Account deletion is immediate, but some data may be retained for legal reasons
  • Privacy concerns: Review our privacy policy or contact support with specific questions
