Deleting Your Account

You can delete your LavishMade account at any time. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. This guide explains how to delete your account and what happens to your data.

Before You Delete

Before deleting your account, consider:

  • Export your data: Download your data before deleting (see Privacy & Data settings)
  • Cancel subscriptions: Cancel any active subscriptions you have
  • Save important content: Download or save any posts, photos, or content you want to keep
  • Inform connections: Let friends know if you're leaving (optional)
  • Consider alternatives: You might want to deactivate or take a break instead

Important: Account deletion is permanent. Once deleted, you cannot recover your account or any of your data.

How to Delete Your Account

To delete your account:

  1. Go to Privacy & Data settings (or Account Settings)
  2. Scroll to the "Delete Account" section
  3. Read the warning about permanent deletion
  4. Click "Delete Account" button
  5. Confirm that you want to delete your account
  6. Enter your password if prompted
  7. Confirm deletion one final time

The deletion process begins immediately after confirmation.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following will be permanently removed:

  • Your profile and profile information
  • All your posts and blog posts
  • All your photos and photo albums
  • All your deep dives
  • Your comments on other people's content
  • Your messages and conversations
  • Your favorites and saved content
  • Your subscriptions and subscription history
  • Your notification preferences
  • Your account settings and preferences

What Happens to Your Content

After account deletion:

  • Your content: All your posts, blogs, photos, and other content are permanently deleted
  • Comments: Your comments on other people's content are removed
  • Reposts: Any reposts you've made are deleted
  • Content you've shared: All shared content is removed
  • Your profile: Your profile page is no longer accessible

Content that others have reposted or shared may remain, but it will no longer be attributed to you.

What Happens to Your Relationships

When you delete your account:

  • Friendships: All friend connections are removed
  • Subscriptions: Your subscriptions to creators are cancelled
  • Subscribers: People who subscribed to you will no longer see your content
  • Blocked users: Your blocked list is deleted
  • Friend requests: Pending friend requests are cancelled

Data Retention

Some data may be retained for legal or operational reasons:

  • Payment records (for tax and legal compliance)
  • Account activity logs (for security purposes)
  • Data required by law to be retained

However, this retained data will not be associated with your account and cannot be used to restore your account.

Exporting Your Data First

Before deleting, export your data:

  1. Go to Privacy & Data settings
  2. Click "Export Data" or "Export Your Data"
  3. Wait for the export to complete (you'll receive an email)
  4. Download the exported data file
  5. Save it somewhere safe before deleting your account

The export includes your profile, posts, blog posts, photos, and other account data in JSON format.

Cancelling Subscriptions

Before deleting your account:

  • Go to Subscription Settings
  • Cancel any active subscriptions you have
  • Wait for any pending payments to process
  • Then proceed with account deletion

This ensures you're not charged after account deletion.

After Account Deletion

Once your account is deleted:

  • You'll be logged out immediately
  • You cannot log back in
  • Your username/URL will become available for others
  • You can create a new account with the same email address (if desired)
  • Your old content will not be restored

Alternatives to Deletion

Before deleting, consider these alternatives:

  • Take a break: Simply log out and take time away from the platform
  • Adjust privacy: Make your profile more private or limit who can see your content
  • Delete specific content: Remove individual posts or content instead of everything
  • Disable notifications: Turn off notifications if they're overwhelming
  • Limit activity: Reduce your activity without deleting your account

Recovery After Deletion

Account deletion is permanent:

  • You cannot recover your account after deletion
  • Your data cannot be restored
  • You cannot undo the deletion
  • Support cannot restore deleted accounts

If you're unsure, export your data first and take a break instead of deleting immediately.

Creating a New Account

After deleting your account:

  • You can create a new account with the same email address
  • Your old username/URL may be available again
  • You'll start fresh with a new account
  • None of your old content will be restored

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure you've exported your data and cancelled any subscriptions before proceeding. Once deleted, your account and all associated data will be permanently removed.

Tip: If you're unsure about deleting, export your data first and take a break from the platform. You can always delete your account later, but you cannot undo deletion once it's done!
