Blocking Users

Blocking a user prevents them from interacting with you on LavishMade. When you block someone, they won't be able to see your content, send you messages, comment on your posts, or send you friend requests.

How to Block a User

There are several ways to block a user:

  1. Go to the user's profile
  2. Click the three dots menu (⋯) or settings icon
  3. Select "Block" from the menu
  4. Confirm that you want to block the user

You can also block a user from their post or comment by clicking the three dots menu on their content and selecting "Block User".

What Happens When You Block Someone

When you block a user:

  • They cannot see your posts, blog posts, or other content
  • They cannot send you messages
  • They cannot comment on your content
  • They cannot send you friend requests
  • They cannot see your profile
  • Any existing friendship between you will be removed
  • You will not see their content in your feed

Note: Blocking is mutual in terms of visibility - you won't see their content either, and they won't see yours.

Managing Your Blocked Users

You can view and manage your blocked users:

  1. Go to your account settings or friendships page
  2. Navigate to "Blocked Users"
  3. You'll see a list of all users you've blocked
  4. You can unblock users from this list

Unblocking a User

If you change your mind, you can unblock a user:

  1. Go to your blocked users list
  2. Find the user you want to unblock
  3. Click "Unblock" next to their name
  4. Confirm that you want to unblock them

After unblocking, the user will be able to see your public content again, but you'll need to send a new friend request if you want to be friends.

When to Block Someone

Consider blocking someone if:

  • They're harassing or bullying you
  • They're sending unwanted messages
  • They're posting inappropriate comments on your content
  • They're spamming you or your content
  • You simply don't want to interact with them

You don't need a reason to block someone - if you don't want to interact with them, you can block them at any time.

Blocking vs. Reporting

Blocking and reporting serve different purposes:

  • Blocking: Prevents someone from interacting with you personally
  • Reporting: Alerts our moderation team to review content or behavior that may violate our guidelines

You can both block and report someone if their behavior violates our community guidelines. Blocking protects you, while reporting helps protect the entire community.

Privacy and Blocking

Blocking is private:

  • The blocked user is not notified when you block them
  • Other users cannot see who you've blocked
  • Your blocked list is private to you

Tip: Blocking is a powerful tool for maintaining your safety and comfort on LavishMade. Don't hesitate to block someone if they're making you uncomfortable - your well-being comes first!
