Playing Music
Playing music on LavishMade is intuitive and feature-rich. Whether you're listening to a single track, exploring an artist's catalog, or letting a playlist auto-continue, the audio player gives you full control over your listening experience.
Basic Playback Controls
Every track includes a full-featured audio player with:
- Play/Pause: Click the play button to start playback, click again to pause
- Restart: Click the restart button (🔄) to jump back to the beginning of the track
- Rewind: Click the rewind button (⏪) to go back in the track

Waveform Scrubbing
One of the most powerful features is waveform scrubbing:
- Click to Seek: Click anywhere on the waveform to jump to that point in the track
- Drag to Navigate: Drag along the waveform to quickly move through the track
- Visual Feedback: The waveform shows the audio structure, helping you find specific sections
- Precise Control: Quickly jump to your favorite parts of a track
This makes it easy to skip intros, jump to choruses, or quickly navigate through longer tracks.
Track Show Page
Each track has a dedicated show page with:
- Large Cover Art: Prominent display of the track's cover image
- Big Play Button: A large circular play button overlay on the cover art
- Full Player: Complete audio player with all controls
- Track Information: Title, artist name, genre, mood, and play count
- Social Actions: Favorite, comment, support, repost, message, and share options
- Comments Section: See and participate in discussions about the track
Click on any track (from the Music page, feed, or profile) to open its dedicated show page for the full listening experience.
Compact Player (Feed Views)
When tracks appear in feeds or compact views:
- Compact Layout: Smaller, horizontal layout optimized for browsing
- Essential Controls: Play/pause, time display, and basic navigation
- Quick Access: Click the cover art or title to go to the full track page
- Space Efficient: Takes up less space while still being fully functional
The compact player is perfect for quick previews while browsing, and you can always click through to the full page for the complete experience.
Auto-Play Queue
One of the most seamless features is the auto-play queue on music profiles and playlists:
- Continuous Playback: When one track finishes, the next one automatically starts
- Visual Highlighting: The currently playing track is highlighted with a bold gold border
- Active Track Indicator: The track that's actively playing gets a light gold highlight/ring
- Jump Anywhere: Click any track in the list to jump to it and start playing
- Seamless Transition: Smooth 500ms delay between tracks for a polished experience
This creates a streaming-platform-like experience where you can start playing and let the music continue automatically.
How Auto-Play Works
The auto-play queue works on:
- Music Profile Pages: When viewing an artist's music profile with multiple tracks
- Track Lists: Any collection of tracks displayed together
- Sequential Playback: Tracks play in the order they're listed on the page
When you start playing a track, it becomes the "active" track (bold gold border). When it's actually playing, it also gets the "playing" state (light gold highlight). If you jump to a different track, that becomes the new active track, and playback switches seamlessly.
Playing from Different Places
You can start playback from multiple locations:
- Large Play Button: Click the big circular play button on track cards or the show page
- Cover Art: Click the cover image on compact feed cards to go to the track page and play
- Track Title: Click the track title link to navigate to the track page
- Compact Player: Use the play button in the compact player on feed views
Playback Controls Explained
Here's what each control does:
- ▶️ Play: Starts playback from the current position
- ⏸️ Pause: Pauses playback at the current position
- 🔄 Restart: Immediately jumps to the beginning (0:00) of the track
- ⏪ Rewind: Goes backward in the track (useful for quickly reviewing a section)
- Waveform Click: Seeks to the clicked position in the track
- Waveform Drag: Drag along the waveform to scrub through the track
Mobile Playback
On mobile devices, playback is fully optimized:
- Touch Controls: Large, touch-friendly buttons for easy control
- Compact Layout: Efficient use of screen space with compact players
- Full Functionality: All features work on mobile, including waveform scrubbing
- Background Playback: Music continues playing even when navigating away (depending on browser settings)
Play Tracking
When you play tracks, your listening contributes to play counts:
- Automatic Tracking: Play counts increment automatically when you listen
- Minimum Listen Time: You need to listen for 30 seconds (or complete shorter tracks) for a play to count
- Cumulative Listening: Play tracking counts cumulative listening time, not just maximum position reached
- One Count Per Session: Each listening session counts as one play (resets if you restart from near the beginning)
- Artist Visibility: Artists can see play counts on their tracks to gauge engagement
Note: When artists play their own tracks, it doesn't increment the play count. Only plays from other listeners count.
Tip: The best way to enjoy music on LavishMade is to visit an artist's music profile page and start playing. The auto-continue feature means you can just press play and let the music flow, or use the waveform to jump around and explore. The visual highlighting helps you always know what's playing, even if you're browsing while listening.
