What are IRL Events?

IRL (In Real Life) Events on LavishMade are real-world gatherings organized by approved hosts. These events bring the LavishMade community together in person for meetups, workshops, performances, social gatherings, and more.

What are IRL Events?

IRL Events allow community members to organize and attend physical gatherings:

  • Real-world gatherings: Physical events at specific locations and times
  • Community organized: Created by approved hosts within the LavishMade community
  • RSVP system: Attendees can RSVP, join waitlists, and pay for tickets
  • Event discovery: Find events on the /irl page, room pages, and in your feed
  • Host management: Hosts can manage attendees, send updates, and handle payments

Where to Find Events

You can discover events in several places:

  • /irl page: Main hub for browsing all upcoming events with filters for location, date, and interests
  • Room/Community pages: Events section showing upcoming events for that specific room or interest
  • Your feed: Events from users you subscribe to, friends, or favorited rooms/interests
  • Your IRL dashboard: Personal dashboard showing events you're attending, hosting, or have attended in the past

Event Features

Events include several key features:

  • Event details: Title, description, date, time, location, and venue information
  • RSVP management: Auto-approve or request-to-attend modes
  • Waitlist system: Automatic waitlist when events reach capacity
  • Paid events: Option to charge for tickets with integrated payment processing
  • Reminders: Automated email reminders 3 days, 24 hours, and 3 hours before events
  • Host messaging: Hosts can send updates to all attendees
  • Photo sharing: Attendees can share photos and event recaps

Event Types

Events can be categorized into different types:

  • Meetup: Casual gatherings for community members to connect
  • Workshop: Educational or skill-building sessions
  • Performance: Shows, concerts, readings, or artistic presentations
  • Social: Parties, mixers, or networking events
  • Outdoor: Hikes, picnics, or outdoor activities
  • Other: Any other type of gathering

Free vs. Paid Events

Events can be either free or paid:

  • Free events: No cost to attend, RSVP is instant confirmation
  • Paid events: Require payment to secure a spot, processed through Stripe
  • External ticketing: Option to link to external ticket sales platforms

For paid events, hosts must have Stripe Connect set up to accept payments. The platform charges a 10% fee on paid events.

Event Approval Process

All events go through an approval process:

  1. Draft: Host creates the event (only visible to host)
  2. Submit for review: Host submits the event for admin approval
  3. In review: Event is reviewed by admins (visible to host and admins only)
  4. Approved: Event is live and visible to everyone
  5. Changes requested: Admin requests changes, event returns to draft
  6. Rejected: Event is rejected (host can see but cannot republish)

Once approved, events cannot be unpublished - hosts can only cancel them if needed.

To get started with IRL Events:

  • Attending events: Browse the /irl page and RSVP to events that interest you
  • Hosting events: Apply to become an approved host, then create your first event
  • Managing RSVPs: Keep track of events you're attending in your IRL dashboard
