RSVPing to Events

RSVPing to events on LavishMade is how you secure your spot at real-world gatherings. The RSVP process varies depending on whether the event is free or paid, and whether it uses auto-approve or request-to-attend mode.

How to RSVP

To RSVP to an event:

  1. Find an event you want to attend (on /irl page, room pages, or in your feed)
  2. Click on the event to view its details
  3. Click the "RSVP" or "Request to Attend" button
  4. For paid events, complete payment if required
  5. Wait for confirmation (varies by event type)

RSVP Modes

Events can use two different RSVP modes:

Auto-Approve

  • • Instant confirmation
  • • No host approval needed
  • • For free events: immediate confirmation
  • • For paid events: payment required first

Request to Attend

  • • Host reviews your request
  • • Host can approve or reject
  • • For paid events: payment after approval
  • • You'll be notified of the decision

Free Events

For free events:

  • Auto-approve mode: You're immediately confirmed when you RSVP
  • Request-to-attend mode: Your request is sent to the host for approval
  • You'll receive email confirmation and can view the event in your IRL dashboard
  • No payment required

Paid Events

For paid events, the process is slightly different:

  • Auto-approve mode: You'll be redirected to payment immediately after RSVPing
  • Request-to-attend mode: Host approves your request first, then you're redirected to payment
  • Payment must be completed within 24 hours or your spot may be offered to someone else
  • Once payment is confirmed, you're officially registered
  • You'll receive a payment confirmation email

Waitlists

If an event is full when you try to RSVP:

  • You'll automatically be added to the waitlist
  • You'll see your position on the waitlist (e.g., "#3 on waitlist")
  • If a spot opens up, you'll receive an offer via email
  • You have 24 hours to accept the waitlist offer
  • For paid events, you'll need to complete payment when accepting the offer
  • If you don't accept within 24 hours, the offer goes to the next person

RSVP Status

Your RSVP can have different statuses:

  • Pending Approval: Waiting for host to approve your request (request-to-attend mode)
  • Awaiting Payment: Approved but payment not yet completed (paid events)
  • Confirmed: You're registered and confirmed to attend
  • Waitlisted: Event is full, you're on the waitlist
  • Waitlist Offered: A spot opened up, you have 24 hours to accept
  • Rejected: Host declined your request
  • Cancelled: You cancelled your RSVP

Managing Your RSVP

You can manage your RSVP from the event page or your IRL dashboard:

  • View status: See your current RSVP status and any pending actions
  • Complete payment: If you have a pending payment, you can complete it from the event page
  • Accept waitlist offer: If you receive a waitlist offer, accept it from the event page or email link
  • Cancel RSVP: Cancel your RSVP if you can no longer attend
  • View event details: Access event information, location, and host messages

Cancelling Your RSVP

You can cancel your RSVP at any time:

  • Go to the event page and click "Cancel RSVP"
  • For paid events, refunds depend on the cancellation policy
  • Refunds are typically available if cancelled more than 48 hours before the event
  • If you cancel, your spot may be offered to someone on the waitlist
  • You'll receive a cancellation confirmation email

Event Reminders

If the host has enabled reminders, you'll receive automated emails:

  • 3 days before: Reminder about the upcoming event
  • 24 hours before: Final reminder with event details
  • 3 hours before: Last-minute reminder

Reminders are sent based on the event's timezone, not your local timezone.

Host Messages

Hosts can send messages to all confirmed attendees:

  • You'll receive host messages via email
  • Messages may include updates, changes, or important information
  • Recent messages are displayed on the event page

External Ticketing

Some events use external ticketing platforms:

  • These events will have a "Get Tickets" button linking to the external platform
  • You can still RSVP to show interest and receive updates
  • Payment is handled through the external platform
  • You'll receive updates from the host through LavishMade

Troubleshooting

Common issues and solutions:

  • Can't RSVP: Make sure you're logged in and the event hasn't reached capacity
  • Payment failed: Check your payment method and try again. You have 24 hours to complete payment.
  • Missed waitlist offer: If you miss the 24-hour window, you'll need to RSVP again if spots open up
  • RSVP not showing: Check your IRL dashboard or the event page to see your status

Tip: Keep an eye on your email for RSVP confirmations, waitlist offers, and event reminders. Make sure to complete payment promptly for paid events to secure your spot!
