I stumbled upon this movie today, but it was a quiet day. No kiddos running around, nothing pressing on the to do list.. so i could sit with this slow hauntingly beautiful film. The main character reminded me so much of my youngest kiddo, Edwin. He loves the outdoores and believes in magic... the kind of magic that turns empty spaces into something otherwordly. So many sequences just fully caught me off guard with their beauty. It's a slow beautiful film... worth giving it your attention.

This isn't my favorite Ari Aster film, but what an intense ride. Ultimately to me this film is about corporations and the ultra rich taking over while we bicker about vaccines and tiny power squabbles.

This one felt like it took forever, but i'm happy I was able to be part of the process and my friend was able to make a movie that meant a lot to him.

I watched Nashville and it struck me as this wandering look at a city where every person is moving through their own little storm. The BBC reporter kept trying to catch the story, but it always slipped past her, just like it does for most of us day to day. The film never pointed a finger at anyone, it just let the noise and the music wash over everything. It felt strangely honest, the way life feels scattered, funny, heavy, and unclear all at once.

The acting in this was pretty great, the world-building was fantastic. My only complaints were the convenient and nearly comical things that helped the characters out of plenty of situations. Overall, this was a fun film, although it was predictable. Glad I watched it.
