I saw this today while doom-scrolling through TikTok. The video itself got me emotional, but then I opened the comments and was hit with a million feelings and thoughts at once. Nostalgia is cruel and one of the most beautiful experiences in the world. I don’t want to CONSTANTLY be mourning the simpler times. That’s why I’ve been loving Lavish Made. It’s a version of this same feeling but in modern times. It’s somewhere where we can feel simpler but still adapted to our technology and modernisms in 2025. I saw @JaylinGoings post this morning about deleting TikTok- and it got me thinking about doing the same. I think my fear is missing important information or news, but that’s just the thing. We have other ways of finding news and information happening in the world. I’ve been considering switching to a flip phone for a break, along with signing up for the paper delivery service, and trying to replicate the 90s/early 2000s as closely as I can without sacrificing our modern ways too much. What are your thoughts, friends? What can we do as a Lavish community to bring those feelings of bliss and slowness to modern times? What things would you like to see brought to Lavish? #lavishmade

Those comments are .... so real and heartbreaking. I think we've lost that ability to be in the present. I was reading "The October Book" and one of the stories was about a pumpkin who each year experienced a new person picking them out... doing the little traditions and each year he noted how it got worse and worse. Sometimes he wasn't named, sometimes people would carve him on camera only to leave him without being lit after that. He mentions their holy totem.. the black rectangle god they hold in their hands held up at the sky. He mentions how the people have lost the magic and each year it only gets worse and worse... so in the story he runs away...

Perfectly articulating the feeling I’ve been having. I long for a simpler time. I think after spending a lot of time weighing out pros and cons of large platforms such as instagram and TikTok it doesn’t feel like it’s serving me the way I intended? I find so much joy in posting and sharing my life and connecting with people I love, but the platforms I’m utilizing instead left me feeling empty and disconnected. We too have toyed with the idea of getting smartphones!
Exactly! I love sharing photos and sharing parts of my life. I think there’s something beautiful about sharing it with your friends and community. OLD Instagram was amazing! No algorithm yet, no A.I, etc. It was strictly about sharing your life with people you love. I think Lavish will get to that point soon. We just need to gather more users!
