Personalized Feed Filters

Your personalized feed on LavishMade puts you in complete control. Filter your "For You" page to see exactly what you want - whether that's all blog posts, quotes from across the community, content from specific creators, or combinations like "Books #horror" or "@username #photography".

Quick Overview

Personalized feed filters let you curate your corner of the internet. Mix and match filters to create the perfect feed for your mood, interests, and discovery goals.

  • All Feed: Your complete personalized feed combining everything
  • Filter Chips: Quick access buttons at the top to filter your view
  • Feed Settings: Full control center for managing your filters and exclusions
  • Exclusions: Hide content you don't want to see anywhere

Understanding Your Feed

Your feed starts with a foundation and builds from there:

The "All" Feed (Your Default View)

When you click "All" or first visit your "For You" page, you see:

  • Your network: All content from friends and people you subscribe to
  • Your tags: Public content matching tags you've added to your filters
  • Your categories: Content matching any categories you've added (Blogs, Posts, Deep Dives, Quotes, Music, Movies, Books)
  • Your custom filters: Content matching any compound filters like "@username #tag" or "Books #horror"

Think of "All" as your complete personalized feed - everything combined based on your preferences.

Filter Chips (Quick Filters)

The chips at the top of your feed let you quickly narrow down what you're seeing:

  • Sliders icon: Opens your Feed Settings
  • "All" chip: Shows your complete personalized feed
  • "Subscriptions" chip: Shows only content from creators you subscribe to
  • Your filter chips: Any tags, categories, or custom filters you've added

Clicking a chip filters your feed to show only that type of content.

Adding Filters

To customize your feed, click the sliders icon or go to Settings → Feed Settings.

Types of Filters

1. Simple Tags

Add hashtags to see all public content with that tag:

  • Type: #photography or #books
  • Your feed will include all public posts, blogs, and deep dives with this tag
  • Shows content from everyone, not just your network
2. Content Types

Filter by type of content:

  • Posts: All public posts from across LavishMade
  • Blogs: All published blog posts
  • Deep Dives: All public deep dives
3. Subcategories

Special category filters for specific types of posts:

  • Quotes: Posts with quote layout or quote content
  • Music: Music tracks and album reviews
  • Movies: Movie posts and film reviews
  • Books: Book posts and book reviews

Note: Subcategory filters in your "All" feed show recent content from the last 30 days to keep things fresh.

4. Specific Users

Follow specific creators more closely:

  • Type @username to add a user filter
  • See all public content from that creator in your feed
  • Great for keeping up with favorite creators without subscribing
5. Compound Filters (Advanced)

Combine filters for laser-focused content:

  • Posts#tech - Only posts tagged with tech
  • Books#horror - Book-related content tagged with horror
  • @username#photography - Only photography content from this user

To create a compound filter, type both parts together with a # in between.

Adding a Filter

  1. Click the sliders icon on your feed or go to Settings → Feed Settings
  2. Find the "Your Personalized Space on the Internet" section
  3. Type what you want to add in the search box
  4. Select from suggestions or press Enter/click the checkmark to add
  5. Your new filter chip appears immediately on your feed

Tip: When you favorite (heart) a tag or interest, it's automatically added to your feed filters!

Excluding Content

Exclusions are your way to hide content you don't want to see anywhere on your feed. They're more powerful than filters because they apply globally.

What Can You Exclude?

  • Tags: Hide all content with specific hashtags
  • Users: Hide all content from specific creators (type @username)
  • Compound exclusions: Hide specific combinations like @username#tag

How Exclusions Work

  • Global application: Exclusions apply everywhere in your feed, regardless of what filters you have
  • Overrides inclusions: If you exclude a tag, you won't see it even if you've added it as a filter
  • Privacy: Your exclusions are private - no one knows what you've excluded

Adding an Exclusion

  1. Go to Settings → Feed Settings
  2. Scroll to "Excluded Content"
  3. Type what you want to exclude (tags start with #, users with @)
  4. Select from suggestions or press Enter/click the checkmark
  5. That content will no longer appear in your feed

Important: Exclusions are powerful. If you exclude #photography, you won't see any photography content even if you click a "Photography" filter chip.

Tips for a Great Feed

Start Simple

  • Begin with 3-5 tags that represent your main interests
  • Add a content type or two (like "Blogs" or "Quotes")
  • Let your feed breathe - you don't need 20 filters right away

Use the Chips

  • Click different filter chips throughout the day to explore different types of content
  • "All" gives you everything; individual chips let you focus
  • The chips are ordered by recent activity - hot topics appear first

Fine-Tune with Compound Filters

  • Use compound filters to get really specific (like "Movies#comedy")
  • Great for when you want a particular type of content from a specific category
  • Combine with user filters to follow someone's work in a specific area

Prune Regularly

  • Remove filters you're no longer interested in
  • Update exclusions as your preferences change
  • Your interests evolve - let your feed evolve with them

Explore Beyond Your Filters

  • Visit the Explore page to discover new content and creators
  • Click hashtags in posts to explore new interests
  • Your filters curate your feed, but don't let them create a bubble

Common Questions

What's the difference between "All" and clicking a specific chip?

"All" shows your complete personalized feed - everything from your network plus all your filters combined. Clicking a specific chip (like "Quotes" or "#photography") filters your feed to show only that type of content.

If I add "Blogs" to my filters, will I only see blogs?

No! Your "All" feed will still show everything - posts from friends, your other filters, etc. Adding "Blogs" means that public blogs will also be included in your "All" feed, and you'll have a "Blogs" chip to click when you want to see only blogs.

Can I see content from someone without following them?

Yes! Add them as a user filter with @username. Their public content will appear in your feed without subscribing. Great for keeping up with creators casually.

What happens if I exclude a tag I've also included?

The exclusion wins. If you exclude #photography, you won't see any photography content anywhere in your feed, even if you've added it as a filter or favorited it.

How often do filters update?

Immediately! As soon as you add or remove a filter, your feed updates. Refresh the page to see the changes reflected in your filter chips.
