Hello, Friend.
Welcome to #LadyBirdBlogs. The FIRST #LadyBirdBlogs post of 2026.
Like a lot of us, this last year has been one of my bad years. A "Not favorite" year.
Ya know when we're 89 years old and we'll look back on the years of our life in nostalgia & remembrance? Good & bad?
Yeah....2025 will be one of those shudder years that we don't want to think about again.
Regardless, 2025 came & went.
We lived, we cried, we laughed, we cried some more.
Every year I pick a word to focus on for the next 12 months. I don't even remember what I picked for 2025...because there was no part of me that could actually focus on inviting said word into my life.
This year, The word I have chosen is:

Every year I pick a word to focus on for the next 12 months. I don't even remember what I picked for 2025...because there was no part of me that could actually focus on inviting said word into my life.
This year, The word I have chosen is:
Cultivate.
I want 2026 to be the year of cultivating & taking action with ideas, friendships, & everyday life.
Cultivating your own life is ridiculously important. Creating the life around you that YOU want. A life YOU long for.
I'm exhausted of feeling exhausted.
I want to live & create warmth. Brightness. Tranquility. Joy.
I want to live in the moment & focus on the small things, but at the same time, looking up the big things, because why can't we have both?
Here are my goals for the year
- 1. Get a business plan together for a possible bakery opening.
- 2. Finish 'Final Girls' & have a wrap party.
- 3. Get rid of most of my wardrobe & start fresh with a new style.
- 4. See a therapist on a schedule.
- 5. Eat mindfully, seasonally, & more healthy.
- (Goodbye coffee every morning & eating out in moderation!)
- 6. Knit a sweater by next Winter.
- 7. Become more financially stable by next Fall.
- 8. Potty train the beast.
- 9. Create a mood board for the year.
- 10. Focus on Lavishmade IRL & hit our goals.
- 11. Wear less makeup. (This is a big one and will take me some time- I tend to really enjoy the process of makeup so this will be a challenge!)
- 12. Accept my gray hair & wrinkles that are starting to pop up. (They say having a baby ages you, but holy hell I might as well be 78)
- 13. Keep my hair jet black, long, & thick, for an entire year. (This is also going to be a HUGE challenge for me. If you know me, you know I change my hair every two weeks, drastically. It's on impulse & my OCD goes wild if I don't give in to those impulses. Wish me luck.)
- 14. Develop a mindset of positivity & tranquility. A new outlook for the year. No matter what happens.
- 15. Try YOGA!
- 16. Develop a personal menu of bakes & recipes.
- 17. Try new things without fear.
- 18. Trial & error medication for OCD.
- 19. Grow closer with our friends & have a family style dinner at least once a month.
- 20. Stop being afraid of what others will think. Remember that your friends love you & they won't judge you.
- 21. I want to host a radio show or a podcast. It's a silly little dream, but I want to try my hand at it.
21 goals. 12 months. 365 days.
Let's do this!
What are your goals for the year? What's your big word for 2026? I'd love to discuss & see how we can life each other up this year. How do we help our community? What can we do to become a more connected society?
I want to pick your brain & create something beautiful.
Let's cultivate our gardens, cultivate our lives, & become human again.
Real, down to earth, messy, beautiful, humans that we are meant to be.
In honor of the new year with new goals, I'll be doing a 'song of the month' every month for a year.
The song for January is of course,
January - Headlights
There's something beautiful, sad, & encouraging about this song.
I always feel a longing when I listen to January. A longing for a life I don't have, a longing for the life I WILL create. I just haven't done it yet.
"January started slow
The coldest winds
And the deepest snow
And it'll all stop until we get home
And the lights go off even when you're alone"
Listen, feel, & write.
Seriously, make a cup of tea or coffee.
Sit down, write. Feel & create.
We have 365 days to create a beautiful, fulfilling, & artful life.
There's so much time. SO much time.
Cultivate anything your heart desires, weirdo.
Happy writing friends!
Also what music are you listening to while writing?
With love,
LadyBird.
