I'm hosting a local music showcase on Wednesday in Norman. $7, 7 PM, All Ages
My description of the four acts I chose are:
🧙♂️ Balefire || 8-bit chiptune sounds chewed & regurgitated in heavy metal form to awaken the wizard inside
✒️ Britny Cordera x Santiago Ramones || audience-sourced realtime typewriter poetry funneled into a sound station to morph clicks and clacks into mesmerizing music
🐼 Rad Panda || DJ-fluid electronic moods & jams paired with tech-y visuals to bridge the worlds of EDM & IDM
🐛 DER WURM || our resident circuit-noise worm scientist goes acoustic with a cello set
Promises to be awesome and weird. Would love if someone from here came out.

My film shelf is now at 50 reviews. I never acclimated to Letterboxd, so it's nice to finally have a record of my life in movies, even if it's only been since December.
It would be more than 50, but I haven't been including documentaries. I probably should, even if the ones I've seen haven't been particularly major events. I watched a doc about the Hong Kong umbrella movement, the Louis C.K. scandal, the artist Yayoi Kusama, the performance artist Wrinkles the Clown, and so on. None of them aspire to anything cinematic, just to inform and, well, document real world events and figures. I guess they'd all get a middling three stars from me, or I could do no ratings at all. Maybe I'll scratch my skull & scrounge up some memories of what I've seen to add to the Shelf.
Also - I watched Here (2024) and Masters of the Universe (2026), but bafflingly, neither are in the database. If my submissions to correct that go nowhere, I'll note here that Here is an interesting, tedious failure that I wish someone other than Zemeckis made, and MofU is way better than it has any reason to be given its development hell. 2.5 stars & 4 stars respectively.

deadCenter Film Festival, that's what's on my mind
It's 2026 and somehow I have still not gotten my shit together. The day before the festivities begin and I am just now checking out the schedule.
One of my all time favorites is Okie Short Shorts and I am super interested in Julie Takes a Walk. I love Okie stuff, animation, comedy, horror, and all things creative. If anyone has any recommendations for what to keep an eye out for, feel free to let me know!
